Saturday’s late kick-off as proper football returns following the September international break sees Aston Villa take on Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park and on the back of the 4-1 hammering by Sheffield United ahead of the break – well, this one is going to be interesting.

Blackburn also got hammered ahead of the break with an identical scoreline at the hands of Bristol City so both sides will be out to prove a point but one thing is for sure, manager Steve Bruce will make changes as the pressure is really beginning to mount now with a pretty torn fan base.

Nyland,
Elmohamady, Chester, Jedinak, Hutton,
Bolasie, McGinn, Whelan, El Ghazi,
Grealish,
Abraham.

I’d say the above is probably the way he’ll pivot, get the names of the new signings in with the hope they give people a lift and he’ll be expecting a scrap so I can see Glenn Whelan returning. The rest of the squad picks itself really, we appear to have created a partially new bomb squad of former regulars who are now second string and at best on the bench, do I don’t see them appearing.

I say that in the full knowledge that the above starting XI won’t please people completely, especially as it’s not two up top in the true sense. But whether any injuries I’m not aware of change that – it’s my punt at it.

We’re tied in the table with Rovers on nine points and I can’t see a draw here.
