I reckon the man who makes up these rumours must be on holiday as they are very thin on the ground at the moment!

According to FC Groningen striker Markus Berg reports that Aston Villa, Sunderland and Blackburn Rovers are all interested in his services is news to him! He said on Sportweek:
‘My agent also hasn’t heard a thing. I would imagine the clubs, if they really were negotiating a deal, would contact me. I am fully focused on the European championships. We will see what happens when it ends.’ You can check the Sweden U21 striker yourself tomorrow as he should feature in the England v Sweden U21 semi final game: ( Villa Trio Hope To Face Sweden For England U21s )

The Northern Echo, a regular read in the Fear household, claim that Sunderland will bid for Spurs midfielder Tom Huddlestone along with Aston Villa and Fulham who also want the 22-year-olds services. Ok, nothing new there, we’ve heard that one before but wait for this…. they say he is rated at £8million. WOW… HOW MUCH???? Surely not! The report says the player wants regular football and although he is under contract until 2013 and is still wanted by Appy Arry, the midfielder might choose to move on if he can’t get some guarantees of first team football.

A report in the Times says Spurs are after Real Madrid fullback Royston Drenthe who we’ve also been linked with. They claim that we made a bid for the Dutch left-back last week which was rejected. Hmmmm.

Right, come on Villa, the rumours are drying up, so we’ll need some actual signings now! :o)

(I reckon early July will be when deals are announced by the way, June is never very productive!)

  • We will be last to know, the three previous seasons have been the same, no one new about any of the signings before hand really, remember Carew ? Sidwell ? Cuellar ?? etc.etc……they just happened. It’ll be just the same this time round. The press have to fill the pages with something, Villa, Everton, Spurs and Man City will be linked with every player and his dog. Just enjoy the summer and don’t worry abvout it.

  • Very ture, our deals are often kept up wraps. I think things will kick off first week of July, Owen’s officially out of contract then and Tevez’s loan at ManUre finishes.

  • Royston Drenthe reminds me of Ronaldinho with the skill where he kicks it out with the outside of his boot then quickly bringing in past the player, very skillful player by the looks of it, and he seems built enough to handle the premiership.

  • So there is no news but what about the official Villa web site. I am really ticked off with them. I logged on to see the news triple bid and got really excited about the possibility of some potential signings. The story was about 3 villa players having the chance to play in the under 21 semi final. it really got my goat.
