With Kevin MacDonald and Mark Delaney overseeing Premier League Cup success for Aston Villa in last Friday’s trip to the Liberty Stadium to face Swansea City in the Final, here’s a quick look back to the Cup before we turn our attention to the Play-Off Final at Under 23 level.

Having seen the game end goalless at both the full time and extra-time whistles, penalties were the order of the evening and with two saves from 12 yards by goalkeeper Matija Sarkic, Villa secured a 4-2 victory on the night to lift the Cup against our impressive opponents.

With thoughts turning immediately to the Millwall clash last weekend, it’s only fair to give the youngsters their due time in the sun whilst we await the Play-Off Final against Brighton to be scheduled – that game will take place at Villa Park owing to our second-placed finish as well and rumour has it, it may be the tail-end of this week.

Players weren’t the only ones getting in on the act as the celebrations commenced and great to see some of our seniors sending their regards as well!

Senior eyes move to the first leg against Middlesbrough and U23 eyes move to Brighton now. The next week and a bit continues to be huge for both levels at the club, so let’s hope it begins with the U23’s securing promotion and then the first team will follow in due course.
