Ulises de la Cruz is still unsure where he will end up after his World Cup heroics with Ecuador.

The 32-year-old right-back (and winger) said

‘Maybe I will be leaving (Aston Villa). I have had no offers thus far but maybe after the World Cup I will. But I would definitely love to stay in England because I like the language, culture and style of play.’

de la Cruz has been linked to Premiership new boys Sheffield United, then again, who hasn’t!? Reports recently have also linked him to Spanish team Villareal.

He explained ‘An approach from Villarreal has always existed, but my contract with Aston Villa finishes next month. We will go into things and see what happens. There are many things that happen in life, I only ask God that he helps us continue in the World Cup and that we can continue enjoying these good moments.’

He also says he would personally prefer to meet up with Sweden in the 2nd round as opposed to England.
‘We would be more confident when playing Sweden because England are so strong on free-kicks, corners and in the air. The English team is very good and they have a great midfield.’
