Could Aston Villa really be looking at a decent player to bring in? Dare we even think it?

According to the rumour mill, Lee Hendrie might move to West Bromwich Albion with the midfielder being used as a make-weight for Zoltan Gera to move in the opposite direction.

The report in The Mirror says that Gera is determined to ask for a move from the relegated Hawthorns and will talk with Bryan Robson next week.

Hendrie is expected to be one of many players to leave this summer as David O’Leary (the luckiest manager in the league for keeping hold of his job!) looks to shake up the squad to avoid more relegation threats next season.

The 27-year-old Hungarian (hey, O’Leary said he only wanted hungry players next season, this is all fitting into place!) playmaker has also been linked to Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City.

  • I thought they wanted about £4M for Gera? Even valuing Little Lee at £1M means we are a little short of the asking price.

  • I hope its true though and i think it would benefit both parties if the deal went ahead. And I don’t think they would get 4million for him. Maybe we could swap Hendrie and Djemba Djemba for him.

  • he looks a pretty good player, although £4m seems a little over valued when you consider Danny Murphy went to spurs for about £2m.

  • Ok, I’ll do the LOL at my own joke then!!! ;o)) He would be a great player, the one thing we are short of (as per our poll with over 80% agreeing) is a playmaker.

  • If he’s a playmaker then surely he wouldn’t fit into our team, O’Leary wouldn’t like to see anything intersting or exciting from our team :-/

  • Would like him to sign, however, I don’t want us to let Lee go. He’s a player with passion for the club and there’s few of them at the moment!

  • Seeing as we have to move players out, before DOL will get the nod allowing him to bring onboard new faces, we are at a disadvantage from day one. Gera is by all accounts ready to advise West Brom that he wants out, and no doubt immediately that happens a
