1) When did you become a Villa fan and why?
I hated football when I was a small boy! My brother’s best mate had Villa badges all over his denim jacket though, and when Villa got to the ’77 League Cup Final I was listening intently on BRMB. When Tony Butler got his prayer mat out during the replays, I did too! I went to my first match in ’79.
2) Paul Lambert? Your opinion please?
I think we only have him for two or three seasons (until the Man Utd job comes up!) So he won’t necessarily bring us much stability, but we should use him and his footballing style to help us attract the NEXT Manager, for hopefully a longer term.
3) Best and worst moments of last season?
Best was beating Chelsea. Worst for me was hearing the news about Fabrice Muamba, and then about Stan. Football is insignificant in comparison.
4) Your opinion of Randy Lerner and the board, can a decent season next season make up for last season?
I believe that Mr Lerner is about as good an owner as we could wish for (look at the turmoil that happened at Blues, Blackburn, Liverpool, Portsmouth, Rangers etc) and that everyone is allowed to make a mistake or two, as long as you learn(er) from it! I can honestly say that I despised the vitriol aimed at McLeish last season, and I thought we would end the season like the last one – a few good results and a top ten finish. I would then have been able to say I was right! Like I say – everyone’s entitled to a mistake….that was mine!
5) Which player/s should Villa sign this summer?
I think there are a lot of older Bosmans available this year, which could buy our academy players another season to develop. I would like to see Villa shirts on the backs of Drenthe, Rodallega, Cuellar, Owen, then of course Robbie Keane! Having said that, I am sure we will have spies at Euro 2012 and the Olympics!
6) Which player/s should Villa get rid of this summer?
Very few during the summer! We need to build. Having said that, we could get Hutton away, and Delph – who I like, but is just not built for the PL – together with Delfouneso and Bannan for the same reason.
7) Favourite current player?
Tough one! Albrighton for his promise, Gabby for his loyalty.
8) Favourite all time player/s?
Gary Shaw, Tony Morley, Paul McGrath, Dwight Yorke.
9) What do you expect us to do/finish this season assuming a decent transfer window with £25m or so spent?
Premier: 8th
FA Cup: semi finals
Carling: Winner
10) You can ask yourself any question you want to about Villa and what is your answer?
Where do you see Villa in 5 and 10 years’ time?
In 5 years I see us as a top half side. Not top 6, but never bottom half. 10 years from now I see us being a regular in Europe, pushing for CL.
