1) When did you become a Villa fan and why?
Destiny. Going with my Dad probs 1971. Lived in Manor Road went to Yew Tree Primary, loved the hustle and bustle of a Saturday in Witton, the stunningly pretty claret and blue rosettes selling on every corner, AV floodlights, sheer majesty of old VP, minding your cars, being allowed stay up late for midweek night games and drinking Bovril to stay warm v the likes of Chester or Hartlepool, the cavernous Holte, the Old Witton, the immense roar of the pumped up crowd, knees up mother Brown, the right-side, fans who knew how and when to sing to raise the team, the shiver down the spine of feeling part of this tribe, something really special, never leaves you. Even in the bad times it keeps you warm.
2) Paul Lambert? Your opinion please?
Obviously over the moon I got my promising crabby jock as opposed to the hopeless brassnecked jock of yore. Understood the OGSmania as the anti-dote to the waking nightmare but think we got the right man this time to lead us, hopefully with success for the next 5 or so years. Its good a lot of the deadwood has now finally gone, hopefully in rebuilding we will now see some fight and pride for that precious jersey – and some worthwhile positive purposeful winning football for a pleasant and welcome change. Surely promising times after the doom and severe gloom of the past two disatrous seasons.
3) Best and worst moments of last season?
Best – Hooolier not being here, Given signing. Eck getting fired. Beating Chelsea, the game we lost at home v Arsenal. First 19th minute applause, special. The atmosphere at Norwich away despite us being worse than useless. Not getting relegated. Heskey being put out to pasture. Nout else, a truly dire woeful season.
Worst – Randys decision to appoint Eck despite all the warning signs. Realising the noses wernt wrong. The dire anti-football and morgue like VP atmosphere. The hate. Players being afraid of a football. Stan’s illness. Too much.
4) Your opinion of Randy Lerner and the board, can a decent season next season make up for last season?
From a big fan, I went to being very much Randy neutral following the Hoooolier fiasco and annually selling off our best players whatever the circs. To Jesus wept wtf for inflicting the dire Eck on us, diabolical decision. My big fear was he was happy to turn us into Fulham, doing just enough to milk the PL cash cow on minimum outlay. But am now much happier with the decisive way he fired Eck and appointed Lambert, he had to get that right after the last two really stupid and naive appointments, really stupid twice, but if he splashes out for some much needed quality in key positions and we get back to playing purposeful football, I can hopefully get back to being Randy neutral again. Am definitely rooting for him, nice bloke!
5) Which player/s should Villa sign this summer?
I think any quality players I would like are well out of our price range but we certainly need more quality all over the pitch, so many key positions need sorting. Hopefully Lambert can find us some bargains who arnt afraid of a football. You know the league has gone down the tubes when Citeh can pay 18m for a reserve left back!!! Just hope we are lucky with whoever comes in and I do expect at least 5.
6) Which player/s should Villa get rid of this summer?
Could get rid of nearly the lot of them for all I care but getting shot of Hoofer Collins would certainly be a good start.
7) Favourite current player?
Am falling out of love with all footballers and the Premiership in general. Most of our lot need to get their fingers out. But probably, even though he had a nightmare at the Euro’s, Shay Given, which says a lot about the current team. Will be hoping Clarke and GG show themselves more this season.
8) Favourite all time player/s?
The usual suspects. Aitkin, Lockhead, Graydon, Gidman, Gray, Little, Evans, Mortimer, Sid, Morley, Withe, McInally, God, Platty, Saunders, Yorke, Taylor, Merson, Laursen.
9) What do you expect us to do/finish this season assuming a decent transfer window with £25m or so spent?
PL: A season floating around mid table finishing no worse than a mighty 10th.

Can we hit top six and Europe again? Harder than it used to be but a big yes with Paul Lambert at the wheel.
