Inevitably, after the devastating defeat in the playoff final, fans are not going to be full of positivity about the club’s future.
Especially with the issue of Financial Fair Play hanging over our heads, it can be difficult to look forward to next season with too much optimism.
However, some fans on Twitter have decided to look towards the future with hope:
Maybe I’m deluded. I just don’t see it as all doom and gloom right now. If that’s unpopular and makes people angry thinking I’m a fool then apologies. I just think we’re still in with a shout next season. We will see. #avfc

I don’t feel the doom and gloom either, ok we’re not in an ideal situation with FFP but Brighton, Huddersfield, Cardiff and Fulham are proof that it can be done without spending and despite losing the loan players and JT, I still feel we have a squad capable.

I still think we will win the league. Shouldn’t fear anyone. We go again!! As for FFP, if only we had a world renowned businessman as an owner who undoubtedly has a plan ????@Dr_TonyXia #avfc

We need to be more positive, we are Aston Villa, we have been down to the old third division, and came back to be champions of Europe we can do it again

I don’t feel doom and gloom but I know we are not in with a chance next season the football will be the same hogan up front on his own and the keeper hoofing it up to him hoping for the best then we will be relying on Jack to do all the work

I take a bleak view having seen what’s happened to other clubs in our position, but we haven’t failed FFP just yet and I’m sure we can put some sort of a team together, it will be a long tough road but anything is possible.

Whilst I don’t like Steve B’s style football at times , maybe he is the man to get us out of the Championship next time of asking

We have Players who were hardly used last season Steer Green O’hare RHM Bree. Team these with Grealish Chester Bjarnason Hourihane Hogan and Davis. I make that we need two defenders and right winger on loan. And the rest should raise £20m or more between them (10 off them).

Verdict:
I am naturally more of a pessimist than an optimist so while I get that we should not be too downhearted by staying in the Championship for another season, it’s hard not to see the huge ramifications that come with it.
There are some difficult decisions to make on the horizon for Tony Xia and the club. We are not going to be happy with many of them, but as these supporters rightly say, we will hopefully still have a team capable of competing right at the top of the table.
