Aston Villa didn’t really have too much to shout about following the weekend’s Championship clash with Hull City.
Welcoming Nigel Adkins’ side to Villa Park for the tie the defensive wheels quickly fell off once again for us as Hull established a two-goal lead, but efforts from James Chester and Tammy Abraham salvaged the point.
Head coach Dean Smith picked out the problems in his own post-game interviews and I doubt few fans would disagree with him, but in amongst the disappointment, midfielder John McGinn was a massive plus for us once again with his individual showing.
The 25-year-old has more than showed his quality since arriving from Hibernian over the summer and fans were more than pleased to praise him on social media in the aftermath of the game.
If Villa #avfc don’t go up this season, I fear we will lose John McGinn. Too good a player to be in the Championship. Was superb again yesterday

We’ll be lucky to keep him for next season! The bloke is unbelievable – some premiership teams will certainly be sniffing round him.

With a few comments along the lines of Player of the Season already, McGinn is definitely in the mix even with some many games left to play.
