Earlier on Friday, Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez topped off an almost perfect first season at the club by making his full debut for Argentina in their 2022 World Cup qualifier against Chile.
The first of many international appearances for @EmiMartinezz1! ๐

Having joined us last summer from Arsenal on a deal said to be worth ยฃ20million in total, the 28-year-old instantly hit the ground running and as head coach Dean Smith’s side helped themselves to a much improved 11th placed finish in the Premier League, fans will know that Emi himself entered the record books, joining Brad Friedel on 15 clean sheets for the season, following his 38 starts.
Having won rave reviews, he more than deserved his international debut and with it being just over a decade since earning his first call up, his patience has finally been rewarded.
We already knew Arsenal fans were smarting about the decision to let him leave – they won’t be any happier today!
Villans, however, were understandably delighted for him.
So good he could stop time ๐งค
