On Thursday afternoon Aston Villa goalkeeper Jed Steer celebrated our Championship Play-Off winning return to the Premier League by signing a new four year extension at the club to complete a whirlwind 2018/19 campaign.
Having admitted at the contract signing that he felt that his time at B6 was going to be over when we loaned him out to Charlton Athletic at the beginning of the year, there has been a total turnaround for the 26-year-old stopper with him now established as our No 1 and he certainly has head coach Dean Smith’s trust.

With him now contracted up until the summer of 2023, we’ll see how much truth there is to the reports of our interest in other goalkeepers this summer, but it is plausible that now they are better settled international stoppers Orjan Nyland and Lovre Kalinic are up for the battle.
Taking to social media as the news was announced, fans were largely delighted for the long-serving player.
Got us to Wembley well deserved in my book

Deserves it after the way he composed himself after going into the first team during such an important part of the season and made some worldie and crucial saves to get us promoted along the way. The saves vs WBA and the pen at Sheff Wed come to mind. Well done Jed ????????

So well deserved, not just for the playoffs but to come back in January and perform like that for the whole second half of the year after a few seasons of being on the periphery was absolutely fantastic. Cheers Jed #avfc
