With Aston Villa fans knowing that Republic of Ireland striker Scott Hogan’s time was up at B6, sadly for us, his loan spell out with Stoke City in the first half of the 2019/20 campaign hasn’t exactly gone swimmingly but that hasn’t stopped speculation that we will now loan him to Birmingham City for the remainder of the campaign.

Having headed to the Potteries back in early August, the 27-year0old has made five starting appearances, with ten further showings from the bench and in that time he’s chipped in with three goals but under new manager Michael O’Neill he’s slipped well down the pecking order and hasn’t played since early December.

With O’Neill himself making no bones about the fact that Hogan needed to move on, the Birmingham suggestion is a little left field, but it feels like there’s something in it.

Reaction from Villa fans to the rumour received the expected ‘Agent Hogan’ responses, but it doesn’t seem (as desperate as they are) that many Blues fans like the idea either, although some feel they could give him a second lease of life.

Maybe the laughably named Trillion Trophy Stadium isn’t the ideal destination for him, but given we aren’t going to use him, it’s better he’s off our books for a bit as opposed to on them.
