Bear with me, this one is a little strange. It was being claimed on Wednesday evening that Aston Villa were about to appoint Nice Chief Executive Julien Fournier as our new Director of Football.
The claim actually came from Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol who took to their Twitter account to make the claim.
Nice chief executive Julien Fournier is a man in demand. Likely to move to England this summer in director of football role. Aston Villa and Burnley among possible destinations

An interesting enough story you’d have thought until it dawns on you that moving from a Chief Executive role to a Director of Role could be argued to be a backwards step. Then it twigs, what about existing Sporting Director Jesus Garcia Pitarch who looked perfectly happy at the club as he celebrated on the pitch following the fulltime whistle with West Bromwich Albion in our Play-Off victory.
Dig slightly deeper and it gets a little bit more Twilight Zone as the coverage I saw seemed to be utterly oblivious to the above two points and they clearly weren’t aware of Suso’s existence full stop.
The comments were quite funny though and thankfully light hearted.

Although there's a significative chance of the opposite under certain circumstances

I’ve heard he’s a nice lad too

No chance Suso is leaving Villa.

Isn't that suso pitarchs job at villa?

You win some, you lose others I guess. One comment did imply that Arsenal may be chasing Pitarch though, so that might be one to watch but I haven’t been able to track that down properly to source as it seems to have been sparked by an Arsenal fan?
