The debate about Aston Villa’s transfer strategy over the summer continues to rage on with the January window in full flow and Hull City attacker Jarrod Bowen has featured prominently as a reported target for the last few windows.

Regular readers will already know my thoughts on the 23-year-old talent and I’d have been delighted to see him snap him up when we were first linked to him and for me, with our new approach to the market, he should tick every box Suso looks for.

It may still only be the second tier, but in 30 appearances this year, he’s again chipped in with 17 goals and six assists and whether or not Hull owner Assem Allam is genuine about turning down £20million offers on a number of occasions, he’s got to be worth a £25/30million gamble of our money.

It’s a no brainer from Hull’s point of view to offer him a new deal, even though they have a 12 month option on his current contract, but whatever future promises they might be able to make as stated by the report, surely we can better it and given his growth over the last few seasons, isn’t he the type of player we should be gambling on as we look to the future.
