It was a lively and interesting weekend for fans of Aston Villa, as I wasn’t alone in believing that Norwich City wouldn’t entertain selling key star Emiliano Buendia this summer, but I was wrong and journalists quickly got wind that we had joined Arsenal in the hunt for the Argentine playmaker.

Fast forward to Saturday and it seemed we were clearly in pole position for the 24-year-old, and it seemed like it was only a matter of time before we would get confirmation – the transfer window officially opens on Wednesday I believe.

We didn’t even have to wait that long though, as earlier this morning Aston Villa went into print on the deal and confirmed that Emi2 would undertake his medical and ‘complete the transfer’ following Argentina’s World Cup qualifying clash with Colombia on Tuesday evening.
